William Crotch (5 July 1775 – 29 December 1847) was an English composer and organist. According to Nicholas Temperley he was "a child prodigy without parallel in the history of music", and was certainly the most distinguished English musician in his day.

Crotch spelade redan vid tre års ålder orgel, och blev efter teologiska studier vid Oxford organist vid Christ Church där. År 1797 blev han professor i musik vid Oxfords universitet, och organist vid S:t Johns College. Senare kallades han till London, där han 1822 blev ledare av den nystiftade musikakademin. Crotch komponerade kantater, hymner och orgelmusik samt skrev teoretiska läroböcker som Practical thorough bass (1812) samt Elements of musical composition (1812). A l'edat de vint-i-dos anys fou nomenat professor de música de la Universitat d'Oxford, havent-se-li conferit el títol de doctor en música. El 1822 assolí la direcció de la Reial Acadèmia de Música, càrrec en el que fou succeït en retirar-se per Callcott. (ca)
