Anfang 2014 übergab Vattenfall den Standard mit allen Rechten an das Industrieforum VHPready e. V., das maßgeblich vom Fraunhofer-Institut für Offene Kommunikationssysteme (FOKUS) vorbereitet worden war und die Weiterentwicklung und Verbreitung als internationalen Industriestandard übernahm.
