Tale atto, suggerito e presentato da Riccardo di Gloucester, fratello di Edoardo IV, è in forma di supplica al medesimo Riccardo con la quale i Lords dichiarano illegittimi i figli di Edoardo IV - ovvero Edoardo V e suo fratello Riccardo - in quanto illegale era il matrimonio dei genitori. Pregavano quindi Riccardo di assumere su di sé la corona: egli acconsentì alla richiesta e divenne re col nome di Riccardo III. (it)
- Titulus Regius (lateinisch für „Königstitel“) ist ein vom englischen Parlament 1484 erlassenes Gesetz. In Titulus Regius wird erklärt, warum 1483 Richard III. statt seines Neffen Eduard dem verstorbenen König Eduard IV. auf den englischen Thron folgte. Das Gesetz enthält die Erklärung des englischen Parlaments, dass die Ehe von Eduard IV. von England mit Elizabeth Woodville ungültig war und deshalb ihre Kinder (also auch Eduard) illegitim waren. Damit war Richard der nächste rechtmäßige Thronfolger. Nachdem Richard III. durch Heinrich Tudor, den späteren Heinrich VII., in der Schlacht besiegt wurde, wurde Titulus Regius vom Parlament aufgehoben und die Legitimität der Kinder von Eduard IV. und Elizabeth Woodville wiederhergestellt. - Titulus regius ("título real" en Latín) es un estatuto del Parlamento de Inglaterra aprobado en 1484, por el que se concedía el título de rey de Inglaterra a Ricardo III La ley ratifica la declaración que habían hecho un año antes los miembros de las cámaras de los lores y los comunes, en la que se anulaba el matrimonio entre Eduardo IV de Inglaterra e Isabel Woodville, por lo que sus hijos, entre ellos Eduardo, Ricardo e Isabel, eran ilegítimos, y por tanto quedaban excluidos de lista de sucesión al trono. Ricardo III había sido proclamado rey por derecho, pero los lores y los comunes no habían sido oficialmente convocados como Parlamento para esta proclamación, por lo que para acallar las dudas sobre su validez, se aprobó la declaración con rango de ley en cuanto el Parlamento se reunió. - Titulus Regius ("royal title" in Latin) is a statute of the Parliament of England issued in 1484 by which the title of King of England was given to Richard III. The act ratified the declaration of the Lords and the members of the House of Commons a year earlier that the marriage of Edward IV of England to Elizabeth Woodville had been invalid and so their children, including Edward, Richard and Elizabeth, were illegitimate and thus debarred from the throne. Richard III had been proclaimed the rightful king. Since the Lords and the Commons had not been officially convened as a parliament, doubts had arisen as to its validity and so when Parliament convened, it enacted the declaration as a law. (en)

Det är ett officiellt tillkännagivande som beskriver varför parlamentet (året innan) funnit att äktenskapet mellan Edvard IV av England och Elisabet Woodville hade varit ogiltigt och därmed att deras barn var utomäktenskapliga (och därför hindrade att tillträda tronen), vilket fick innebar att Rikard III var den rättmätige kungen.
