Thestieis (Greek: Θεστιείς) is a former municipality in Aetolia-Acarnania, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Agrinio, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 75.058 km2. The seat of the Thestieis municipal unit is . It is situated at the northwestern shore of Lake Trichonida.

- Ο Δήμος Θεστιέων Αιτωλοακαρνανίας συστάθηκε με το νόμο 2539/97 και έπαψε να υφίσταται το 2010 με την ψήφιση και εφαρμογή του νόμου για την τοπική αυτοδιοίκηση με την ονομασία "Καλλικράτης". Αρχικά από το 1994, με το νόμο 1416/86, είχαν συσταθεί σε δήμο οι κοινότητες Καινούργιου και , οι οποίες παρέμειναν ως δημοτικά διαμερίσματα και στις οποίες προστέθηκαν, και οι κοινότητες Παναιτωλίου και Νέας Αβόρανης. Όλα τα δημοτικά διαμερίσματα του τέως Δήμου Θεστιέων, εντάχθηκαν στον διευρυμένο Δήμο Αγρινίου. Έδρα του Δήμου Θεστιέων ήταν το Καινούργιο. Βορειοανατολικά του Καινούριου υψώνεται ο κώνος του , η ακρόπολη των στην αρχαιότητα . (el)

Βορειοανατολικά του Καινούριου υψώνεται ο κώνος του , η ακρόπολη των στην αρχαιότητα . Η πόλη έφερε το όνομα του μυθικού βασιλιά Θέστιου. Ο στα βυζαντινά χρόνια ήταν οχυρό κάστρο. Δόθηκε κι αυτό ως προίκα το 1294 στο Φίλιππο του Τάραντα. Από του Τούρκους καταλήφθηκε το 1450, για να ερημωθεί στη συνέχεια. Σήμερα σώζονται υπολείμματα της οχύρωσης της. Σε πλάτωμα νότια της κορυφής βρίσκεται η Μονή Βλοχού του 18ου αιώνα. Το τέμπλο του ναού είναι αξιομνημόνευτο. Στη Μονή ασκήθηκε ο διδάσκαλος του γένους (1595-1682). Στην έξοδο του Καινουρίου, αριστερά του δρόμου, βρίσκεται τετράκρουνη πηγή του 4ου π.Χ. αιώνα. Στο Δήμο Θεστιέων, κατά την διάρκεια του καλοκαιριού, γίνονται οι πολιτιστικές και αθλητικές εκδηλώσεις "". (el)
