Theatre Square (or in Dutch : Schouwburgplein) is a plaza situated in the heart of the city of Rotterdam, and is flanked by the municipal theatre, concert hall, restaurants, and cafes. An urban stage and an interactive open space, the 12.250 square meter square is designed by West 8, the landscape architecture firm founded by Adriaan Geuze. The design emphasizes the importance of a void, which opens a panorama towards the city skyline. It opened to the public in 1996.

- Het Schouwburgplein is een auto- en fietsvrij plein in Rotterdam met de bioscoop Pathé Schouwburgplein (bekleed met golfplaten) met 7 zalen, en de Rotterdamse Schouwburg, en aan de noordkant het concertgebouw De Doelen. Eronder is een grote parkeergarage. Voor de bestrating is gebruikgemaakt van materialen als epoxy, hout, rubber en metaal. Er zijn grote bewegende lichtmasten, lange banken, en afwisselend spuitende fonteintjes. Verticale ventilatiepijpen zijn per twee omgeven door hekwerk en vormen zo een soort torens. (nl)
