SS Cleveland was a German transatlantic ocean liner that was launched in 1908 and scrapped in 1933. Cleveland was built for the Hamburg America Line (HAPAG) as a sister ship for Cincinnati. Captain of the SS Moltke was appointed as captain of the Cleveland in late August 1909. In 1919 Cleveland became the troop ship USS Mobile (ID-4030). In 1920 she returned to civilian service as the UK liner King Alexander. In 1923 United American Lines bought her and restored her original name Cleveland. In 1926 HAPAG bought Cleveland back. She was laid up from 1931 and scrapped in 1933.

Gechartert von einer amerikanischen Touristikfirma war sie das erste Schiff das zwei Kreuzfahrten fast um die Welt durchführte. Die Cleveland befand sich 1914 in der Heimat und musste 1919 ausgeliefert werden. (de) Le Cleveland est un paquebot allemand de la HAPAG, mis en service en 1909. Construit par les chantiers Blohm + Voss de Hambourg, c'est un navire de taille moyenne destiné à transporter principalement des migrants en Amérique. Il officie ainsi entre Hambourg et New York jusqu'en 1914. Avec le début de la Première Guerre mondiale, le Cleveland est mis au repos dans le port de Hambourg et reste inactif pendant cinq ans. En 1919, le Cleveland est l'un des premiers navires remis aux Alliés comme dommage de guerre. Renommé Mobile, il est utilisé par l'US Navy pour rapatrier les soldats américains. (fr)
