Rose Hartwick Thorpe (July 18, 1850 – July 19, 1939) was an American poet and writer, remembered largely for the narrative poem, Curfew Must Not Ring Tonight (1867), which gained national popularity. It was translated into nearly every language of the world, and was universally recognized as a veritable classic. Other poems followed, among them being "The Station Agent's Story," "Red Cross," and "In a Mining Town." Although a busy and prolific author, she was ill for some years. In 1888, she and her family removed to San Diego, California, living in Rosemere, Pacific Beach.

W 1871 wyszła za mąż za Edmunda Carsona Thorpe'a, mieli dwójkę dzieci. Znana jest przede wszystkim jako autorka poematu Curfew Must Not Ring Tonight napisanego w wieku 16 lat w 1867, opublikowanego w 1870 przez gazetę Detroit Commercial Advertiser, w której publikowała swoje wcześniejsze prace. Curfew Must Not Ring Tonight należał do najbardziej rozpoznawalnych utworów w XIX wieku, był ulubionym poematem Królowej Wiktorii. W XX wieku został zapomniany. W 1895 Stanley Hawley skomponował muzykę do poematu, a jej zapis nutowy został opublikowany przez Roberta Cooksa. (pl)
