Roger W. Baker was the assistant secretary and the chief information officer (CIO) for the Department of Veterans Affairs. He directly managed an organization of over 7,500 information technology (IT) professionals and a budget of over $4 billion. He was nominated by U.S. President Barack Obama to serve as the assistant secretary for information and technology, and was confirmed by the United States Senate on May 18, 2009. Baker has a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and a master's degree in business administration, both from the University of Michigan.
