If there are Pamona people in certain regions, then it is common that a Rukun Poso (Poso community association) is formed there, which serves as a means of a group of people from a common ethnic background to engage in various activities within the region. Almost all of the Pamona people practices Christianity. Christianity came into the region about 100 years ago and until today it is widely accepted as the religion of the people. Today, all churches of common denomination are grouped under the Central Sulawesi Christian Church headquartered in Tentena, Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. A large part of the common folk uses Pamona language and Bahasa Indonesia language that is mixed with the local slang. Pendahulu suku Pamona berasal dari tanah Salu Moge (Kabupaten Luwu Timur, Sulawesi Selatan) karena mereka berasal dari pemerintahan pusat yang pada akhirnya ditundukkan oleh Macoa Bawalipu dari Wotu, Kabupaten Luwu Timur agar lebih dekat dengan pemerintah pusat, yang saat itu berada di Mangkutana, Luwu Timur. Keadaan ini bertahan hingga pemberontakan Darul Islam (DI/TII) yang membuat mereka menyebar ke Sulawesi Tengah dan wilayah lainnya. Jika terdapat suku Pamona di wilayah tertentu, maka merupakan hal yang umum jika Rukun Poso (asosiasi komunitas orang Poso) dibentuk disana, yang berfungsi sebagai sarana sekelompok orang dari latar belakang etnis yang umum untuk terlibat dalam berbagai kegiatan di kawasan ini. Hampir seluruh orang Pamona memeluk agama Kristen. Kristen masuk ke wilayah Poso tahun 1892 (2022 adalah tahun ke-130) dan hingga saat ini diterima secara umum sebagai agama rakyat. Hingga hari ini, semua gereja dengan denominasi yang umum dikelompokkan ke dalam Gereja Kristen Sulawesi Tengah yang bermarkas di kota Tentena, Kabupaten Poso, Sulawesi Tengah. Hampir semua orang menggunakan bahasa Pamona dan bahasa Indonesia yang dicampurkan dengan kalimat slang lokal.
