| - El Setge d'Òtranto va tenir lloc entre 1480 i 1481 quan la ciutat i la fortalesa d'Otranto, al sud d'Itàlia, va ser assetjada per les tropes otomanes. L'any 1480 el setge va acabar amb la caiguda de la ciutat a mans dels otomans i l'any 1481 un nou setge en aquest cas de les tropes derrotades va recuperar la ciutat per al Regne de Nàpols. (ca)

- The Ottoman invasion of Otranto occurred between 1480 and 1481 at the Italian city of Otranto in Apulia, southern Italy. Forces of the Ottoman Empire invaded and laid siege to the city, they captured it on 11 August 1480 establishing the first Ottoman outpost in Italy. According to a traditional account, more than 800 inhabitants were beheaded after the city was captured. The Martyrs of Otranto are still celebrated in Italy. A year later the Ottoman garrison surrendered the city following a siege by Christian forces, uncertainty upon the death of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror and the intervention of papal forces led by the Genoese Paolo Fregoso. - Le sac d'Otrante désigne l'ensemble des combats, terrestres et maritimes, qui se sont déroulés dans et aux alentours de la ville d'Otrante, en 1480, lorsqu'une armée envoyée par le sultan turc Mehmed II s'empara de la ville. Après la prise de la ville par les troupes du sultan, le 14 août 1480, huit cents Otrantins, qui avaient refusé de renier la foi chrétienne, sont décapités au col de la Minerve. On commémore leur souvenir comme celui des saints martyrs d'Otrante. Leurs reliques sont conservées dans la cathédrale de la ville. (fr)
