Previously, she was the Dean for Academic and Clinical Affairs at Harvard Medical School (2008–2019). She was the founding director of the Mass General Office of Women's Careers as well as the Center for Faculty Development (MGH CFD). She has received the Gold Medal from the (ASTRO) as well as the Margaret Kripke Legend Award from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She was elected to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies in 2002 (now the National Academy of Medicine). In 2005, she became the C.C. Wang Professor of Radiation Oncology, at Harvard Medical School, an endowed professorship. (en)
