The Mitaka incident (三鷹事件, Mitaka jiken) was an incident that took place in Tokyo, Japan on July 15, 1949, when an unmanned 63 series train with its operating handle tied down drove into Mitaka Station on the Chūō Line, killing six people and injuring 20. The incident remains a mystery, as do the Shimoyama and Matsukawa incidents which occurred around the same time. The government indicted ten people on a charge of train sabotage resulting in death of the victims, as well as the train's conductor, Keisuke Takeuchi, who was not in the train when it derailed.

(en) 三鷹事件（みたかじけん）は、1949年（昭和24年）7月15日に、東京都北多摩郡三鷹町（現在の三鷹市）と武蔵野市にまたがる日本国有鉄道中央本線三鷹駅構内で起きた無人列車暴走事件。詳細は不明で、同時期に起きた下山事件、松川事件と並ぶ国鉄三大ミステリー事件の一つとされている。 (ja) 三鷹事件，是指1949年7月15日晚上，在盟軍佔領日本時期的東京都北多摩郡三鷹町，中央本線三鷹站一輛無人駕駛的空列車從車站停車庫突然竄出，以時速60公里衝向車站，連帶衝擊到線路旁的商店街，造成6人死亡，20人受傷的慘劇。無人在內的列車大暴走，可見肯定是人為造成，在列車操控系統上做手腳。但是真兇一直未能確定，此案與前後發生的國鐵相關案件下山事件、松川事件並稱為「國鐵三大謎案」。日本政府認定案件為所為，意圖製造混亂，營造革命契機。警方逮捕了國勞組合的10名共產黨員，以及1名非共產黨員竹內景助，聲稱他們「共同謀議」。其中1名共產黨員有不在場證明而被釋放，其餘10人被起訴，2人更附加起訴偽證罪。經過國勞組合的長期申訴，最高裁判所總共變更了7次裁決。9名共產黨員最終全部被判無罪。但竹內依然被判處死刑。1967年，竹內在獄中因腦腫瘤去世，享年45歲。竹內去世後，他的親屬依然在力爭重審案件要求還竹內清白。 (zh) L'incident Mitaka (三鷹事件, Mitaka jiken) se déroule le 15 juillet 1949 quand un train (en) roulant sans personne à son bord dérailla à la gare de Mitaka sur la ligne Chūō, tuant 6 personnes et en blessant 20. Lors de la décision de justice de 1955, le juge conclut qu'il n'y a aucune preuve de conspiration, mais plutôt que Takeuchi avait organisé et exécuté seul l'incident. Il est condamné à mort, tandis que les autres accusés sont déclarés innocents de toutes les accusations. Tous les appels au verdict furent refusés. (fr)
