Mikhail Lyubich (born 25 February 1959 in Kharkiv, Ukraine) is a mathematicianwho made important contributions to the fields of holomorphic dynamics and chaos theory. Lyubich graduated from Kharkiv University with a master's degree in 1980, and obtained his PhD from Tashkent University in 1984. Currently, he is a Professor of Mathematics at Stony Brook University and the Director of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences at Stony Brook. From 2002-2008, he also held a position of Canada Research Chair at the University of Toronto.
