In 2008, he won the election for the 33rd district of the Louisiana House of Representatives. Danahay succeeded Ronnie Johns. In 2018, he was succeeded by for the 33rd district. On May 15, 2018, Danahay was elected as the mayor of Sulphur, Louisiana for which it made his 33rd district office available with three candidates participating in the election.
