Michel Descombey (28 October 1930 – 5 December 2011) was a French ballet dancer, choreographer and director. Descombay studied dancing in Paris, and debuted as a professional dancer of the Ballet de l'Opéra National in 1947. In 1959 he became premier danseur, then ballet master, and official choreographer and finally director of the company from 1962 to 1969. He also established the training ballet group of the Opéra National de Paris. Afterwards he was ballet director of the of the Zurich Opera from 1971 to 1973, and was invited to Mexico by Orozco. In 1975 he settled down in Mexico, where he became chief choreographer and associate director of the Ballet Teatro del Espacio in 1977. He was a member of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte (SNCA).

També va establir el grup de ballet de formació de l'Òpera Nacional de Paris. Després va ser director de ballet del "Zürcher Ballett" de l'òpera de Zuric, de 1971 a 1973, i va ser convidat a Mèxic per Orozco. El 1975 es va establir a Mèxic, on es va convertir en coreògraf en cap i director associat del "Ballet Teatro del Espacio" el 1977. Va ser membre del Sistema Nacional de Cread (ca) Michel Descombey est un danseur, chorégraphe et maître de ballet français né à Bois-Colombes dans les Hauts-de-Seine, le 28 octobre 1930 et mort le 5 décembre 2011. Une cérémonie commémorative s'est tenue à Bellas Artes à Mexico. le mardi 6 décembre 2011, en présence de Max Ortega Del Vecchyo et de la famille Izard. Danseur de caractère, il est également l'un des principaux chorégraphes du Ballet national des Jeunesses musicales de France. (fr)
