| - Mesomedes (en grec Μεσομήδης) va ser un poeta líric i epigramàtic grec que va viure sota Adrià i els seus immediats successors Antonins. Era nadiu de l'illa de Creta i un llibert de l'emperador Adrià al que aquest havia donat la manumissió. L'emperador li havia assignat un sou, que va ser disminuït per Antoní Pius. Segons diu Suides, va escriure un poema sobre Antinous, l'amant d'Adrià. Tres epigrames de Mesomedes es conserven a l'Antologia grega. (ca)
- Ο Μεσομήδης ήταν αρχαίος Έλληνας λυρικός ποιητής και μουσικός από την Κρήτη, που έζησε τον 2ο αιώνα μ.Χ. και ευνοήθηκε από τον Ρωμαίο Αυτοκράτορα Αδριανό. Σώθηκαν δύο επιγράμματα του Μεσομήδη, στην Ανθολογία του Πλανούδη (XIV 63 και XVI 323 στην Ελληνική Ανθολογία), και ένας ωραιότατος «`Υμνος εις Νέμεσιν», σημαντικός για τη μελέτη της Ιστορίας της Μουσικής γιατί διασώθηκαν με αυτόν αρχαία μουσικά σημεία. - Mesomedes of Crete (Ancient Greek: Μεσομήδης ὁ Κρής) was a Greek citharode and lyric poet and composer of the early 2nd century AD in Roman Greece. Prior to the discovery of the Seikilos epitaph in the late 19th century, the hymns of Mesomedes were the only surviving written music from the ancient world. Three were published by Vincenzo Galilei in his Dialogo della musica antica e della moderna (Florence, 1581), during a period of intense investigation into music of the ancient Greeks. These hymns had been preserved through the Byzantine tradition, and were presented to Vincenzo by Girolamo Mei. (en)

- Mesomedes war ein antiker griechischer Kitharöde und Lyriker. Mesomedes stammte von Kreta und war laut Suda ein Freigelassener Hadrians. Eusebius berichtet, dass seine Hauptschaffenszeit nach 144 anzusetzen ist. Je eines seiner Gedichte sind in der Anthologia Palatina und der Anthologia Planudea überliefert. Hinzu kommen weitere 13 erhaltene Gedichte. Vier von ihnen sind mit musikalischen Noten versehen. Es handelt sich bei den Gedichten um Tierfabeln, Hymnen, die Beschreibung eines Schwammes und einer Uhr und die Beschreibung der Herstellung von Glas. Seine Sprache deutet einen dorischen Dialekt an. Die Versmaße sind vielfältig, vor allem anapästisch. (de)

Era un liberto del emperador Adriano, para cuyo favorito Antínoo, parece que escribió un panegírico llamado Citharoedicus Hymnus (Suda). Se conservan dos epigramas suyos en la Antología palatina y un himno a Némesis que comienza como «Némesis, alada equilibradora de la vida, diosa de faz oscura, hija de la Justicia». El himno es uno de los cuatro que conservan la notación musical antigua sobre el texto. Otros dos himnos, uno a la musa Calíope y otro llamado Himno al Sol, anteriormente atribuido a Dionisio de Alejandría, han sido atribuidos a Mesomedes. Se conocen un total de 15 poemas del autor. - Mésomède (en grec ancien Μεσομήδης ὁ Κρής / Mésomèdès) est un musicien, citharède du IIe siècle, natif de l'île de Crète, affranchi de l'empereur romain Hadrien. Il a écrit des panégyriques en l'honneur d'Antinoos de Bithynie, favori et amant de l'empereur Hadrien, pièces transmises par divers manuscrits. Le nome est une prière chantée aux dieux, aussi appelée Nome, du grec ancien νόμοι. (fr)

Zabytkowy zapis utworów hymnicznych Mesomedesa został odkryty przez Girolama Mei, a następnie wydany w 1581 przez jego przyjaciela, Vincenza Galilei, w traktacie teoretycznym pt. Dialogo della musica antica e moderna. Był to pierwszy wydany w czasach nowożytnych utwór kompozytora antycznego. (pl)
