The current Congolese president, Denis Sassou-Nguesso, as well as many senior government officials, belong to this group. Mbochi is the traditional language spoken in the northern regions of la Cuvette (districts of Boundji; Ngoko; d'Owando, d'Oyo; Bokouélé; Tongo; Tchikapika and of Mossaka) also in the region of the Plateaux (districts of Olombo ; Abala, Allembé and Ogogni). Wyróżnia się w nim 10 podgrup/klanów: Bonga, Boubangui, Kouyou, Likouaka, Likouba, Makoua, Mboko, Mbosi, Moye, Ngare. Tradycyjnie zajmowali się hodowlą zwierząt (owce, kozy, kury), rybołówstwem i uprawą roli. Nazwiska Mbosi zaczynają się samogłoską, ale są wyjątki (np. Sassou-Nguesso). Częstymi imionami są Koumou i Peya. Znane osoby wywodzące się z Mbosi:
* Denis Sassou-Nguesso – prezydent Konga
* Marien Ngouabi – przywódca Konga, z klanu Kouyou
