The Macintosh IIcx is a personal computer designed, manufactured and sold by Apple Computer, Inc. from March 1989 to March 1991. Introduced six months after the Macintosh IIx, the IIcx resembles the IIx and provides the same performance, but is seven inches narrower, ten pounds lighter, and quieter due to a smaller internal fan. The relative compactness results in three NuBus slots being available, compared with six on the IIx. This model was superseded by the Macintosh IIci, which used the same case.

  • Macintosh IIcxは1989年、Macintosh IIxの発売の半年後にApple Computerから発売された。筐体デザインは、Macintosh IIを継承しフロッグデザインによるデザイン言語「スノーホワイト」を踏襲した、当時Apple社内のデザイナーであったGavin Ivesterらによるもの。 IIxにより磨きをかけた機種で以前の機種よりもIIcxは静粛だった（同時にファンへ供給する電力が少ない）。NuBusスロットを3つのみと半減させた為、よりコンパクトである。新しい筐体はAppleが横置き又は縦置き両方に対応した唯一の物で、後継機種のMacintosh IIciとQuadra 700にも流用された。縦置きの概念は最初のミニタワー筐体の一つでCEOのジョン・スカリーが机上の占有面積を減らそうと提案した。[1] IIcxの導入ではジャン＝ルイ・ガセーが観客の前で部品を組み込めるIIcxのモジュラーデザインを実演した。組立、修理がやりやすくなった為、使用者はRAMやNuBusスロットや電源等が螺子止めされずに手軽に設置できることを好んだ。 この機種はMacintosh IIciに置き換えられて廃止された。 (ja)

  • Il Macintosh IIcx è un personal computer presentato dalla Apple nel 1989, a circa 6 mesi di distanza dall'introduzione del Macintosh IIx. Malgrado assomigliasse molto al Macintosh IIx, in realtà era un discreto miglioramento di quest'ultimo: era molto più compatto e silenzioso del suo predecessore. Era inoltre stato progettato per poter essere utilizzato sia in posizione orizzontale che verticale. Un'altra caratteristica interessante del computer era quella di essere assemblato con componenti a incastro e non con viti. Ciò rendeva molto semplice l'apertura del computer, la sua manutenzione e la sua riparazione. Questa caratteristica fu molto apprezzata dalla comunità di utenti Macintosh. (it)
