Por los consejos de Emil Racovita (1868-1947) y de (1873-1972), se dirigió hacia el estudio de las arañas. Se encontró con (1856-1944) del Museo de París, quien le presentó a Eugène Simon (1848-1924), el aracnólogo más famoso de la época. Desde cedo interessado pelos fenómenos naturais, fez os seus estudos no e, depois, na Sorbonne onde se licenciou em Ciências Naturais em 1908. Aconselhado por (1868-1947) e (1873-1972), começa a estudar as aranhas. Conhece, então, Louis Eugène Bouvier (1856-1944) do Museu de Paris que o apresenta Eugène Simon (1848-1924), o mais célebre aracnólogo da época. (pt) Lucien Berland (ur. 14 maja 1888, zm. 18 sierpnia 1962) – francuski entomolog (głównie hymenopterolog) i arachnolog. Od młodości Berland przejawiał zainteresowania przyrodnicze. W 1908 ukończył studia w zakresie nauk przyrodniczych na Uniwersytecie Paryskim. Zainteresowany szczególnie pająkami, miał okazję uczyć się arachnologii u Eugène'a Simona w Muzeum Historii Naturalnej w Paryżu. W tymże muzeum został zatrudniony na wydziale entomologii, gdzie opiekował się kolekcją stawonogów. (pl)
