- Lucas Notaras, (grec : Λουκάς Νοταράς) (mort le 3 juin 1453), parfois orthographié Loukas Notaras, est le dernier mégaduc (grand-amiral) de l'Empire byzantin. Appartenant à l'une des plus riches familles de l'Empire, il occupe une place importante à la cour des derniers empereurs, notamment auprès de Constantin XI Paléologue. En tant que mésazon, il agit de facto comme premier ministre de l'Empire. Présent lors du siège, il contribue à la défense de la ville, non sans des relations difficiles avec les capitaines étrangers venus au secours de la ville comme Giovanni Giustiniani. Fait prisonnier le 29 mai 1453, il est rapidement mis à mort par Mehmed II. (fr)

- Loukas Notaras (mittelgriechisch Λουκάς Νοταράς; † 3. oder 4. Juni 1453, hingerichtet) war der letzte Megas Doux des Byzantinischen Reiches. Dieses Amt (wörtlich Großherzog, von der Funktion her aber eher Großadmiral) wurde unter der Palaiologen-Dynastie ausgebaut und funktionierte als das eines inoffiziellen „Premierministers“, der der Kaiserlichen Bürokratie anstelle des vorstand, welcher diese Funktion vormals bekleidet hatte. Notaras war Grieche und stammte aus Monemvasia, wo seine Familie durch zahlreiche kommerzielle Aktivitäten zu Wohlstand gelangt war. (de)

Se le atribuye la famosa frase «prefiero ver el turbante musulmán en la ciudad que la mitra latina», refiriéndose a su oposición en los esfuerzos de reconciliación entre la Iglesia ortodoxa de Constantinopla y la Iglesia católica de Roma. Estos esfuerzos fueron ampliamente rechazados por los ciudadanos, y alejaron a Notaras de Constantino XI, el último emperador bizantino. (es)

Tytułował się także Wielkim Księciem oraz Wielkim Admirałem, żył w czasach ostatnich Paleologów i pełnił nieformalną funkcję pierwszego ministra. Notaras był jednym z najbogatszych ludzi w Konstantynopolu, prowadził na szeroką skalę interesy handlowe i przedsięwzięcia bankowe, był też obywatelem zarówno Genui, jak i Wenecji. (pl)
