Los Shapis is a chicha musical group from Peru. They rose to prominence with their 1981 hit song "El Aguajal" (which means "the swamp"), a modern adaptation of traditional huayno. They were noted for their rainbow coloured costumes. The band's logo was designed by Rafael Trujillo Villacorta. Los Shapis was one of the first chicha groups.

Fue fundado en la ciudad de Chupaca (cuando esta pertenecía a la jurisdicción de Huancayo) el 14 de febrero de 1981 por Jaime Moreyra “El Caballero de la Guitarra” y Julio Simeón “Chapulín el Dulce”. Mit ihrer Verbindung der Cumbia Andina mit Elementen des Techno wirkten und wirken sie prägend für nachfolgende Musikergenerationen, die sich bis heute an dem Stil der Shapis orientieren. Sie hatten somit einen maßgeblichen Anteil am Boom des , der in den 1980er Jahren begann und bis heute anhält. Ihren ersten großen Erfolg hatte die Band 1981 mit El Aguajal (dt. Das Moor), einer modernen Interpretation eines bekannten im Cumbiastil. Eines ihrer Markenzeichen ist ihre regenbogenfarbene Kleidung. Die Regenbogenflagge war das Zeichen der Inkas. Der Name Los Shapis kommt von einem kriegerischen Tanz aus der Gegend um Huancayo. Der Tanz wurde aufgeführt, wenn sich ein Stamm von einem anderen, feindlichen gesinnten Stamm angegriffen fühlte.
