| - Doktor Pascal (französisch Le Docteur Pascal) ist ein Roman des Schriftstellers Émile Zola. Er bildet den zwanzigsten und letzten Band des Rougon-Macquart-Zyklus. Die Erstausgabe erschien im Juni 1893 bei Charpentier. Zentrale Themen sind Zolas genetische Vererbungstheorie sowie das Spannungsverhältnis zwischen Religion und Wissenschaft. Die Handlung setzt 1872 ein. Es ist somit der einzige Roman, der nach dem Sturz Napoleons III. spielt. Die Titelfigur Dr. Pascal ist der 1813 geborene Sohn von Pierre und Félicité Rougon, die dem Leser aus dem ersten Band Das Glück der Familie Rougon bekannt sind. (de)

Zola's plan for the Rougon-Macquart novels was to show how heredity and environment worked on the members of one family over the course of the Second Empire. He wraps up his heredity theories in this novel. Le docteur Pascal is furthermore essentially a story about science versus faith. The novel begins in 1872, after the fall of the Second Empire and the end of the reign of Emperor Napoleon III. The title character, Pascal Rougon (b. 1813), is the son of Pierre and Félicité Rougon, whose rise to power in the fictional town of Plassans is detailed in the first novel of the series La fortune des Rougon. - Le Docteur Pascal est un roman d’Émile Zola publié en 1893, le vingtième et dernier volume de la série Les Rougon-Macquart. L’intrigue se déroule entre 1872 et 1874, autrement dit après la chute du Second Empire, période qui constituait le cadre historique de l’ensemble de l’œuvre. En fait, il s’agit ici de donner une conclusion à l’histoire de la famille et de développer les théories sur l’hérédité que Zola a empruntées aux docteurs Prosper Lucas et Bénédict Augustin Morel. Le Docteur Pascal est, de l'aveu même de son auteur, « un des romans auxquels [il] tient le plus », car c'est à la fois, comme il le dit dans sa dédicace, « le résumé et la conclusion de toute son œuvre ».
