| - Legenda věků (La Légende des siècles) je třídílný epický básnický cyklus francouzského romantického prozaika, dramatika a básníka Victora Huga, ve kterém se autor zamýšlí nad vývojem lidstva v cestě za pokrokem a humanitou a optimisticky věří v jeho lepší budoucnost. Cyklus tvoří jakousi volnou trilogii s dvěma autorovými eposy vydanými až posmrtně. Jde o La Fin de Satan (1886, Konec Satana) a Dieu (1891, Bůh). (cs)

- La Légende des siècles (ung. "Legenden om tidevarven") är en diktsamling av den franske författaren Victor Hugo. Dikterna är skrivna på rimmad vers och berättar en mängd legender ur mänsklighetens historia, från begynnelsen till en nära framtid. Motiven är både historiska och mytologiska. Verket utkom i tre omgångar 1859, 1877 och 1883. Hugo påbörjade verket som ett mindre omfattande projekt med den tilltänkta titeln Les petits épopées ("De små eposen"). När han hade bestämt sig för att istället försöka skildra hela mänsklighetens historia som en legend anpassade han titeln efter detta. (sv)

Written intermittently between 1855 and 1876 while Hugo worked in exile on numerous other projects, the poems were published in three series in 1859, 1877, and 1883. Bearing witness to the unparalleled poetic talent evident in all Hugo's art, the Légende des Siècles is often considered the only true French epic and, according to Baudelaire's formulation, the only modern epic possible. Écrits par intermittence entre 1855 et 1876, tant ses projets sont nombreux en ces années d'exil à Guernesey, les poèmes sont publiés en trois séries : en 1859, en 1877 et en 1883. Portée par un talent poétique estimé comme sans égal où se résume tout l'art de Hugo, après l'accomplissement des Châtiments et des Contemplations qui lui ont ouvert de nouveaux horizons, la Légende des siècles est considérée comme la seule véritable épopée française et, suivant le jugement porté par Baudelaire, comme la seule épopée moderne possible. La Légende des siècles) – poemat Wiktora Hugo, który w planach autora miał opisywać całą historię ludzkości, postępu cywilizacyjnego i przemian społecznych.Hugo pisał Legendę wieków w latach 1855–1876, tymczasem tworząc również inne utwory. Dzieło to łączy w sobie elementy liryki i epiki, często posługuje się satyrą, zestawia realistyczne obrazy z bogactwem poetyckich wizji. Mimo podejmowania historycznych tematów nie stara się wiernie oddawać realiów przywoływanych epok, zawiera częste nieścisłości faktograficzne. W poemacie najważniejsza jest bowiem symbolika i myśl przewodnia: marsz ludzkości „z ciemności ku światłu”.Legenda wieków została wydana w trzech seriach w 1859, 1877 i 1883 oraz w tzw. „wydaniu kompletnym”, które zmieniło kolejność utworów i najprawdop (pl)
