Her clinical research primarily focuses on the implementation of antimicrobial stewardship programs across the Veterans Health Administration. LaPlante is a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (FCCP), the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the Past President of the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists (SIDP).
