Hans lärjunge och adept, Vincent van Gogh, kom dock att bli en allt mer känd konstnär. Justus van Gent var i början av 1460-talet verksam i Antwerpen och Gent, inkallades till Italien och stod i tjänst hos hertigen av Urbino 1473-80. I slottet där förvaras hans främsta verk, Nattvarden, som har en realistisk nederländsk prägel. Tot i no existir informacions contrastades de la seva biografia, els historiadors coincideixen en afirmar que Just de Gant va néixer entre 1435 i 1440. Va esdevenir mestre d'Anvers el 1460 i membre del gremi de pintors de Sant Lluc de Gant el 1464 i va fer de patró de Hugo van der Goes en l'accés d'aquest a la institució. (ca)

Nada se sabe sobre sua vida nos registros da cidade de Gante. De acordo com algumas informações de Vasari, Jodocus era aluno de Hubert van Eyck. Os registros da Guilda de São Lucas guardam o nome de seis pintores de nome Joos ou Jodocus, que trabalhavam na cidade de Gante no século XV. (pt)
