Na letních olympijských hrách v roce 1964 v Tokiu získala bronzovou medaili na 400 metrů, když ji porazila pouze Betty Cuthbertová (zlatá) a Ann Elizabeth Packerová (stříbrná). V roce 1966 na hrách v Kingstonu na Jamajce vyhrála závod na 440 yardů, stříbrnou medaili získala na 880 yardů a v závodě na 220 yardů byla čtvrtá. (cs)

At the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, she won a bronze medal in the first 400 metres race for females, only beaten by countrywoman Betty Cuthbert (gold) and Brit Ann Packer (silver). At the 1966 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston, Jamaica, she won the 440 yards race, a silver medal over 880 yards, and was fourth in the 220 yards. She was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 1988. (en)
