Jozef Peeters (1895–1960) was a Belgian painter, engraver and graphic artist. In 1913, Jozef Peeters attended for a short time the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts, but was mainly interested by his own experiments. In 1914 he started painting luminist landscapes and portraits. From 1915 to 1917 he turned to symbolistic works inspired by theosophy. En 1924, he worked on the interior decoration and designed the furniture for his new house. In 1930 he gives up painting and all other artistic activities.

  • Josephus Henricus (Jozef) Peeters (Antwerpen, 24 juli 1895 – 10 september 1960) was een Belgisch graficus en schilder. Hij wordt beschouwd als een van de eerste Belgische abstracte kunstenaars. Hij was zoon van Henricus Camillus Peeters en Paulina Albertina Henrica Beruck. Zelf trouwde hij met Pelagia Pruym. In 1995 werd een retrospectieve van zijn werk georganiseerd in het Provinciaal Museum voor Moderne Kunst in Oostende. In 2020 verscheen de documentaire In de schaduw van Jozef Peeters van filmmaker Ritchie Vermeire. (nl)
