Johann Gottfried Leonhardi (18 June 1746, Leipzig – 11 January 1823, Dresden) was a German physician and chemist. In 1771 he received his medical doctorate from the University of Leipzig, where in 1781, he became an associate professor. In 1782 he relocated to the University of Wittenberg as a professor of anatomy and botany, and shortly afterwards, was appointed professor of pathology and surgery. In 1789 he became a member of the Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.
