Das Gebiet umfasst etwa 63.000 km² und liegt zwischen 0° und 3°N, sowie 27° und 30° O. Der Ituri-Regenwald liegt in einer Höhe von etwa 700 bis 1.000 m. - La forêt équatoriale de l'Ituri (ou de l'Aruwimi) se trouve en Ituri, au nord-est de la République démocratique du Congo. Elle occupe une superficie d'environ 63 000 km2, et se situe entre 0° et 3°N et 27° et 30° E. L'altitude de la forêt est étalée de 700 m à 1 000 m. La température moyenne est de 31 °C (88 °F) et l'humidité moyenne de 85 % (Wilkie 1987). Environ 20 % de la forêt équatoriale est constituée de la réserve de faune à okapis, inscrite sur la liste du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO. La forêt héberge également les pygmées Mbuti, un des nombreux peuples de chasseurs-cueilleurs vivant dans la forêt du bassin du Congo, caractérisés par leur petite taille (en moyenne moins d'un mètre cinquante). Ils furent l'objet d'une étude de Colin Turnbull, The Forest People, en 1962. (fr)
- La foresta pluviale dell'Ituri è una vasta area di foresta equatoriale estesa nel bacino idrografico del fiume Ituri, nel nord-est della Repubblica Democratica del Congo. La superficie totale della foresta dell'Ituri è circa 62.900 km2. Essa ricade all'interno dell'ecoregione delle Foreste di pianura del bacino nord-orientale del Congo (codice WWF: AT0124). La foresta ospita i pigmei Mbuti, uno dei numerosi popoli di cacciatori-raccoglitori che vivono nelle foreste del Congo. Circa il 20% della foresta ricade all'interno della Riserva faunistica degli okapi, patrimonio dell'umanità dell'UNESCO. (it)

Zajmuje powierzchnię około 63 000 km2 i porasta tereny o wysokości bezwzględnej od 700 do 1000 m n.p.m. Średnia temperatura powietrza wynosi tu 31 °C, a wilgotność waha się w granicach 85%. Las Ituri zamieszkany jest przez Pigmejów z plemienia Mbuti, prowadzących łowiecko-zbieraczy tryb życia. (pl)
