L'informatizzazione prevede l'automatizzazione delle procedure d'ufficio mediante l'uso di computer e software, in luogo dei vecchi supporti cartacei e delle macchine da scrivere (ad esempio per l'invio della corrispondenza interna aziendale, oggi praticata tramite e-mail al posto delle vecchie lettere di carta).
