Imre Bennett Leader is a British Othello player, employed as a professor of pure mathematics at Cambridge University. As a child, he was a pupil at the private St Paul's School and won a silver medal on the British team at the 1981 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) for pre-undergraduates. In mathematics he gained a PhD in 1989 for work on combinatorics, supervised by Béla Bollobás. Since 2000, when he was aged 37, he has been a fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge, the college where he previously worked as an undergraduate.
