Immunostimulants, also known as immunostimulators, are substances (drugs and nutrients) that stimulate the immune system by inducing activation or increasing activity of any of its components. One notable example is the granulocyte macrophage colony-stimulating factor.

Der Wirkstoff scheint nun eine Renaissance erleben zu können, da Untersuchungen aus 2019 anzeigen, dass eine deutliche stimulatorische Aktivität besteht, was die angeborene Immunantwort betrifft. In der Komplementärmedizin werden häufig Präparate wie beispielsweise Extrakte aus Echinacea spp., Pelargoniumwurzel oder Lebensbaumspitzen propagiert.
