(fr) Gunther Alberto Uhlmann Arancibia (* 9. Februar 1952 in Quillota) ist ein chilenisch-US-amerikanischer Mathematiker, der sich mit Analysis beschäftigt. Uhlmann studierte an der Universität von Santiago de Chile, wo er 1973 sein Mathematikdiplom erwarb (Licendiado en Matemáticas). 1976 wurde er am Massachusetts Institute of Technology bei Victor Guillemin promoviert (Hyperbolic pseudodifferential operators with double characteristics). Als Post-Doc war er an der Harvard University und am Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences of New York University. Ab 1978 war er Instructor und ab 1980 Assistant Professor am MIT. 1984 wurde er Associate Professor und 1987 Professor an der University of Washington (ab 2006 Walker Family Endowed Professor in Mathematics). Seit 2010 ist er außerdem Profes (de) Gunther Alberto Uhlmann Arancibia (Quillota, 9 de fevereiro de 1952) é um matemático chileno-estadunidense, que trabalha com análise matemática. Uhlmann estudou na Universidade do Chile. Obteve um doutorado em 1976 no Instituto de Tecnologia de Massachusetts (MIT), orientado por Victor Guillemin, com a tese Hyperbolic pseudodifferential operators with double characteristics. A partir de 1978 foi instrutor e a partir de 1980 professor assistente no MIT. Em 1984 foi professor associado e em 1987 professor da Universidade de Washington. É desde 2010 também professor da Universidade da Califórnia em Irvine. (pt)
