General Motors Vietnam Company, Ltd. (formerly Vietnam-Daewoo Motor Company Limited or VIDAMCO) is a defunct automobile manufacturer based in Vietnam and a member of GM Southeast Asia Operations. The company was officially established in December 1993 as a joint-venture between the Korean Daewoo and the 7983 Mechanic Union Enterprise that was owned by the Vietnamese Ministry of Defense. In April 2000, the company became a 100% foreign investment enterprise after Daewoo acquired the share of its Vietnamese partner. In July 2011, the name of the company was changed from VIDAMCO to GM Vietnam.
