Frank Traynor (8 August 1927 – 22 February 1985) was an Australian jazz musician, trombonist and entrepreneur based in Melbourne. He led Australia’s longest continuously running jazz band, the Jazz Preachers, from 1956 until his death in 1985. He founded the Melbourne Jazz Club in 1958. He founded and ran Frank Traynor's Folk and Jazz Club (1963–75), which played a central role in the Australian folk revival. The club featured performers including Martyn Wyndham-Read, Danny Spooner, , , Trevor Lucas and Margret RoadKnight.

  • Frank Traynor (Melbourne, 8 augustus 1927 - 1985) was een Australische trombonist en bandleider in de traditionele jazz en ondernemer. Traynor leerde als kind klassieke piano. Hij koos voor de jazz nadat hij "12th Street Rag" van Louis Armstrong had gehoord. Hij stapte over op de trombone om dixieland te kunnen spelen en richtte in 1946 zijn eerste band op, waarmee hij ook enkele (niet uitgekomen) nummers opnam. In 1951 werd hij lid van de band van , waarmee hij ook opnames maakte. In 1956 begon hij de groep The Jazz Preachers, waarmee hij tot zijn overlijden in 1985 actief was.
