| - Die Erste Isonzoschlacht war eine von insgesamt zwölf nach dem Fluss Isonzo (slowenisch Soča) benannten Schlachten zwischen dem Königreich Italien und dem Kaiserreich Österreich-Ungarn. Es war der erste größere Versuch Italiens, im Tal des Flusses den Durchbruch in die ungarische Tiefebene zu erzwingen. Als Beginn der Ersten Isonzoschlacht wird allgemein der 23. Juni 1915 gerechnet, obwohl die Kämpfe bereits vier Wochen vorher unmittelbar nach der Kriegserklärung Italiens an Österreich-Ungarn (23. Mai 1915) begonnen hatten. Der als Schlacht bezeichnete Zeitraum dauerte mit kurzen Unterbrechungen bis zum 7. Juli 1915. (Der österreichisch-ungarische Generalstab erklärte allerdings seinerseits die Schlacht bereits am 5. - La Primera Batalla del Isonzo fue una batalla librada entre los italianos y los austrohúngaros en el frente italiano durante la Primera Guerra Mundial, entre el 23 de junio y el 7 de julio de 1915, y formó parte de las doce batallas del Isonzo. Aunque los italianos disfrutaban de una superioridad numérica de 2 a 1, su ofensiva fracasó debido a que el comandante italiano, Luigi Cadorna, empleó un ataque frontal tras una breve -por falta de munición- cortina de artillería. The aim of the Italian Army was to drive the Austrians away from its defensive positions along the Isonzo and Soča rivers and on the nearby mountains and hopefully capture the port of Trieste. Early in July the commander of the Austro-Hungarian Fifth Army, General Svetozar Boroević, received two reinforcement divisions, which put an end to the Italian efforts at breaking through the Austro-Hungarian lines. O objetivo das forças italianas era conduzir os austríacos para o mais longe possível de suas posições defensivas em Soca (Rio Isonzo). As lutas mais pesadas ocorreram em Gorizia, onde tropas italianas conseguiram avançar, mas foram rapidamente forçados a recuar. No final os italianos conseguiram ganhos mínimos: no noroeste eles conquistaram Bovec (Mounte ). A luta no Isonzo prosseguiria por mais dois anos. (pt)
