Ferdinand Peroutka (6 February 1895 – 20 April 1978) was a Czech journalist and writer. A prominent political thinker and journalist during the First Czechoslovak Republic, Peroutka was persecuted by the Nazi regime for his democratic convictions and imprisoned at Buchenwald concentration camp. Following the 1948 coup by the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, he emigrated to both the United Kingdom and, later, the United States.

Intellectuel influent lors de la Première République tchécoslovaque, il fut ensuite persécuté par les nazis pour ses convictions démocratiques et détenu à Dachau et Buchenwald. A la suite du coup de Prague de 1948 réalisé par le Parti communiste tchécoslovaque, il s'exila au Royaume-Uni puis aux États-Unis. Sus primeros artículos los escribió bajo el régimen del emperador Francisco José I. Después del fin de la primera guerra mundial se desempeñó –hasta 1923- como redactor jefe del diario independiente Tribuna. Fue el gran periodista de la primera República de Checoslovaquia, que nació octubre de 1918. Y si bien Peroutka respalda al nuevo Estado democrático, ello no significaba que hiciera una aguda crítica de los errores de los sucesivos gobiernos republicanos. (es)
