Enrico Sandro Coen CBE FRS (born 29 September 1957) is a British biologist who studies the mechanisms used by plants to create complex and varied flower structures. Coen's research has aimed to define the developmental rules that govern flower and leaf growth at both the cellular level and throughout the whole plant to better understand evolution. He has combined molecular, genetic and imaging studies with population and ecological models and computational analysis to understand flower development.

Er befasst sich mit der Genetik der Blütenentwicklung bei Pflanzen. Coen studierte an der Universität Cambridge (King's College) mit dem Abschluss 1979 und der Promotion 1982 bei mit einer Dissertation über die Evolution und Funktionen von Genen bei Drosophila, die für die RNA Produktion in Ribosomen zuständig sind (The dynamics of multigene family evolution in Drosophila). Danach studierte er von Primeln am Plant Breeding Institute in Cambridge, was er 1984 im Labor von Rosemary Carpenter und am John Innes Centre in Norwich fortsetzte mit Löwenmäulern (Antirrhinum majus) als Versuchsobjekt und neu eingeführten Modellorganismen für das genetische Studium der Blütenentwicklung (neben Arabidopsis thalian (de) Enrico Coen is een Britse botanicus die is gespecialiseerd in moleculaire genetica en ontwikkelingsbiologie van planten. In 1979 behaalde hij een B.A. aan King's College London. In 1982 behaalde hij een PhD in de genetica aan de University of Cambridge.
