Emmanuel Jean Candès (born 27 April 1970) is a French statistician. He is a professor of statistics and electrical engineering (by courtesy) at Stanford University, where he is also the Barnum-Simons Chair in Mathematics and Statistics. Candès is a 2017 MacArthur Fellow.

Candès machte 1993 seinen Abschluss an der École polytechnique, erhielt 1994 sein Diplom in angewandter Mathematik an den Universitäten Paris VI und IX und wurde 1998 bei David Donoho an der Stanford University in Statistik promoviert (Ridgelets: Theory and Applications). Danach war er dort bis 2000 Assistant Professor in Statistik und wurde danach Professor für Angewandte und Numerische Mathematik am Caltech (ab 2006 Ronald and Maxine Linde Professor).
