Absolvovala na Oxfordské univerzitě, pracovala v BBC jako autorka populárně naučných pořadů o přírodě. Byla členkou Královské literární společnosti. Je známá především jako autorka teorie do češtiny překládané jako teorie vodní opice. Dvakrát obdržela cenu Britské akademie filmového a televizního umění, byla zařazena na seznam padesáti nejvýznamnějších Velšanů všech dob. (cs)
- Elaine Floyd, conocida como Elaine Morgan (Pontypridd, 7 de noviembre de 1920-Aberdare, 12 de julio de 2013) fue una escritora feminista británica, autora de adaptaciones para televisión y de obras sobre la antropología evolutiva. Escribió guiones para la televisión, basados en obras dramáticas, y obras de antropología biológica. Su reconocimiento se debe a haber sido la proponente y principal defensora de la llamada «hipótesis del simio acuático» sobre la cual publicó varios libros: Eva al desnudo, El mono acuático, Las cicatrices de la evolución, El origen del niño, La hipótesis del simio acuático y El darwinista al desnudo (2008). She advocated the aquatic ape hypothesis, which she advocated as a corrective to what she saw as theories that purveyed gendered stereotypes and so failed to take adequate account of women's role in human evolution. The Descent of Woman, published in 1972, became an international bestseller, translated into ten languages. In 2016, she was named as one of "the 50 greatest Welsh men and women of all time" in a press survey. (en)
