El Porteñazo (2 June 1962 – 6 June 1962) was a short-lived communist military rebellion against the government of Rómulo Betancourt in Venezuela, in which rebels attempted to take over the city of Puerto Cabello (75.83 miles (122.04 km) from the capital). The rebellion was on a substantially larger scale than that of El Carupanazo a month earlier. A photograph of chaplain Luis María Padilla holding a wounded soldier during the rebellion won the 1963 Pulitzer Prize for Photography and 1962 World Press Photo of the Year for Héctor Rondón of .

  • El Porteñazo (o Insurrección de Puerto Cabello) fue una sublevación de la base naval Agustín Armario, ubicada en la ciudad de Puerto Cabello, ocurrida el 2 de junio de 1962 en contra el gobierno del presidente Rómulo Betancourt. Tan pronto el gobierno nacional se entera del intento de golpe, cerca del mediodía, los destructores ARV Almirante Clemente, ARV General Morán y ARV Zulia ya fuera de la rada de la base naval, iniciaron el bombardeo de las instalaciones de la infantería de marina del batallón General Rafael Urdaneta, destruyendo las barracas con los cañones de 40 mm. Enseguida de haber sido tomada la Base Naval y el Fortín Solano, se liberaron a los guerrilleros que se encontraban en el Castillo Libertador, ubicado en la misma área de la base. The rebellion was crushed by 3 June, leaving more than 400 dead and 700 injured, and by 6 June the rebels' stronghold of Solano Castle had fallen.
