Durrës Castle (Albanian: Kalaja e Durrësit) is the fortified old city of Durrës, Albania. It is enclosed by city walls built in the late 5th century, and repaired and reinforced in the Middle Ages and early modern periods.

Il fut construit par l'empereur byzantin Anastase Ier, originaire de la ville, pour la transformer en une des cités les mieux protégée de l'Adriatique. Le mur d'origine a été dévasté par le tremblement de terre de 1273. Les murs reconstruits ensuite mesurent 15 pieds de haut avec trois portes. Il ne reste plus aujourd'hui qu'une tour. Le château fut renforcé par la République de Venise et par les Ottomans. Le château est aujourd'hui une attraction touristique importante de la ville. (fr) Het Kasteel van Durrës (Albanees: Kalaja e Durrësit) is een 5e-eeuws kasteel in Durrës in Albanië. Het kasteel is gebouwd door de keizer van het Byzantijnse Rijk, Anastasius I, die in Durrës opgegroeid is. Keizer Anastasius maakte van de stad een van de meest versterkte steden aan de Adriatische Zee. Na de verwoestende aardbeving van 1273 werden er reparaties aan de wanden uitgevoerd. Momenteel zijn de middeleeuwse muren meer dan 4,5 meter hoog en drie ingangen van enkele fortificatietorens zijn bewaard gebleven in bijna een derde van de oorspronkelijke lengte van het stadskasteel. Het kasteel werd beveiligd door een aantal torenbewakers van de Republiek Venetië en tijdens de Bezetting van Albanië door het Ottomaanse Rijk werd de muur nogmaals versterkt. (nl)
