The Droitwich transmitting station is a large broadcasting facility for long-wave and medium-wave transmissions, established in 1934 in the civil parish of Dodderhill, just outside the village of Wychbold, near Droitwich in Worcestershire, England (grid reference SO929663). The site is the location of the British Broadcasting Corporation's most powerful long-wave transmitter, which together with the two Scottish long-wave transmitters at Burghead and Westerglen forms a network broadcasting on the same frequency. The masts can be seen to the east from the M5 motorway, between Droitwich and Bromsgrove, as well as to the west from the Herefordshire/Worcestershire border. Als Antenne des 400 kW starken Senders, der bis 1989 auf 200 kHz und heute auf 198 kHz BBC Radio 4 arbeitet, kommt eine an zwei 213 m hohen, gegen Erde isolierten, abgespannten Stahlfachwerkmasten befestigte T-Antenne zum Einsatz. Mit den Sendern in Burghead und Westerglen bildet er ein Gleichwellennetz. Daneben existieren noch in Droitwich zwei abgespannte selbststrahlende Stahlfachwerkmasten, über die noch drei Mittelwellensender ihre Programme auf den Frequenzen 693 kHz, 1053 kHz und 1215 kHz abstrahlen. Die Trägerschwingung des Senders wird von einer Rubidium-Atomuhr, die sich im Stationsgebäude befindet, hergeleitet. Sie ist somit eine Eichfrequenz. (de)

La fréquence de transmission était de 200 kHz jusqu'en 1989 et est maintenant de 198 kHz. Deux émetteurs complémentaires utilisant la même fréquence et avec une puissance de 50 kW ont été implantés à Burghead en Écosse, et à Westerglen (approximativement entre Glasgow et Édimbourg). Deux autres pylônes à Droitwich sont utilisés pour transmettre en ondes moyennes les programmes de BBC Radio 5 Live et des radios privées Absolute Radio et Talksport. (fr)
