Daniel Jay Cameron (born November 22, 1985) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the 51st Attorney General of Kentucky. He is the first African-American, and the first Republican since 1943, to be elected to the office. Cameron attended the University of Louisville. He worked as a law clerk for U.S. District Judge Gregory F. Van Tatenhove for two years, and was then legal counsel to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell from 2015-17. In 2020, he was on President Donald Trump's 20-person shortlist of potential Supreme Court nominees.
