Coxsackie is a village in Greene County, New York, United States. The population was 2,813 at the 2010 census. The village name comes from the native word mak-kachs-hack-ing. When the land was purchased by the Dutch settlers, the name was written as Koxhackung. It is generally translated as "Hoot-owl place" or "place of many owls". The village is in the eastern part of the town of Coxsackie along the Hudson River.
