The Consolidation of Labor Laws Decree Law No. 5452 (Portuguese: Consolidação das Leis do Trabalho, CLT) is the decree which governs labor relations in Brazil. It was issued in 1943 by Getúlio Vargas, President of Brazil and was officially adopted on May 1st, 1943. The Constitution allowed him to issue decrees to regulate all matters that were supposed to be regulated by the federal legislative branch while the Parliament didn't assemble. The Parliament never assembled during the period in which that Constitution was valid.

Ela foi criada através do Decreto-Lei n.º5.452, de 1 de maio de 1943 e sancionada pelo então presidente Getúlio Vargas durante o período do Estado Novo, entre 1937 e 1945, unificando toda legislação trabalhista e existente no Brasil. Alguns afirmam que a CLT foi fortemente inspirada na Carta del Lavoro do governo fascista de Benito Mussolini na Itália, enquanto outros consideram isso como uma mistificação, visto que a CLT surgiu de amplas reivindicações dos setores progressistas da sociedade brasileira e das organizações de trabalhadores e é bem mais complexa e maior que a Carta del Lavoro.
