The Communist Party of Poland (Mijal, sometimes called Marxist–Leninist) was an illegal anti-revisionist Marxist-Leninist communist party founded in 1965 in Albania by Kazimierz Mijal. It was opposed to the Polish United Workers' Party and specifically its leader Władysław Gomułka. It upheld Joseph Stalin against Nikita Khrushchev's criticisms at the 20th Party Congress, instead favoring Maoism and a more hardline stance against the Catholic clergy, which was opposed by Gomułka. Mijal declared himself Secretary General of the "Temporary Central Committee of the Communist Party of Poland" and took control of Radio Tirana's Polish wing. Sie entfaltete eine breite Tätigkeit und war so etwas wie die innerparteiliche Opposition in der Polnischen Vereinigten Arbeiterpartei. Nach einer Reihe von Festnahmen von Spitzenfunktionären verließ Kazimierz Mijal das Land und ging nach Albanien, wo er mittels Radio Tirana Programme auf Polnisch sendete. De KPP werd op 4 december 1965 opgericht op initiatief van , voormalig burgemeester van Łódź, kabinetschef van de stalinistische leider Bolesław Bierut en in de jaren 1950-1957 minister in de regeringen van Bierut en Cyrankiewicz. Wśród członków założycieli KPP, obok Kazimierza Mijala, znaleźli się byli działacze PZPR i członkowie rządu odsunięci od władzy przez Władysława Gomułkę – między innymi Hilary Chełchowski i Władysław Dworakowski. Samo powstanie KPP było odwetem Kazimierza Mijala za proces tak zwanej grupy Mijala, który rozpoczął się 30 listopada 1964.
