Chancery Lane is a one-way street situated in the ward of Farringdon Without in the City of London. It has formed the western boundary of the City since 1994, having previously been divided between the City of Westminster and the London Borough of Camden. The route originated as a 'new lane' created by the Knights Templar from their original 'old Temple' on the site of the present Southampton Buildings on Holborn, in order to access to their newly acquired property to the south of Fleet Street (the present Temple) sometime before 1161.

(en) Chancery Lane ist eine Straße in London. Sie verbindet Temple Bar in der Fleet Street im Süden mit der Durchgangsstraße und dem Gray’s Inn im Norden. Die gebogene Straße verläuft von Süd nach Nord bergauf. Die Straße ist heute besonders von den Akteuren des englischen Rechtssystems geprägt. Das Lincoln’s Inn prägt den nordwestlichen Abschnitt der Straße. An der Chancerly Lane liegt auch die vom King's College, das ehemalige Public Record Office, die und diverse traditionelle Herrenausstatter wie Ede and Ravenscroft. Het gelijknamige metrostation ligt niet aan de straat maar aan High Holborn, iets voorbij het noordelijk eind van Chancery Lane. Chancery Lane vormt de westelijke grens van de City of London. De gebouwen aan de oostkant behoren tot de City of London, die aan de zuidwestkant tot de City of Westminster en die aan de noordwestkant tot de London Borough of Camden. (nl)
