The Canadian Cutting Horse Association (CCHA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the equestrian sport of cutting in Canada. Founded in 1954, it regulates a sport that began in the mid-1880s and became popular in Canada in the 1940s and 1950s. The CCHA maintains a Hall of Fame to honour members who have made outstanding contributions to the sport. The CCHA's patron is Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Cutting is a sport based on ranchwork that began in the early 19th century, cutting cattle out of herds. Horses and riders are judged on how well they work to remove a single steer from a herd and keep it from returning. Ces chevaux descendent peut-être de montures importées depuis l'arrivée des premiers colons. Élaboré dans la lignée du Quarter Horse et fortement influencé par ce dernier, le cheval de cutting canadien est le résultat de cet élevage spécialisé. Wyglądem podobny jest do amerykańskiego quarter horse i również jak on, jest szybki na krótkich odcinkach. Rasa konia hodowana głównie do pracy przy bydle z powodu posiadania cow-sense czyli tzw. krowiego zmysłu. - Canadian cutting horse är en typ häst som utvecklats i Kanada specifikt för arbete på rancherna. Det är inte så många som vet om det men rancher och westernridning är nästan lika stort i Kanada som i USA men i jämförelse så har Kanada inte ens i närheten lika många hästraser som de kan kalla sina egna men de raser som de avlar fram är utmärkta arbetshästar inom rancherna. Canadian Cutting Horse är en av dem som är baserad på Quarterhästen. Den kanadensiska cutting-hästen liknar Quarterhästarna i exteriören, och är en lite kraftigare typ av ridhäst och har även ärvt många av dess bästa egenskaper, bland annat den typiska "cow-sense", förmågan att läsa av boskapen för att kunna fösa dessa.
