| - Blackwood's Magazine was a British magazine and miscellany printed between 1817 and 1980. It was founded by the publisher William Blackwood and was originally called the Edinburgh Monthly Magazine. The first number appeared in April 1817 under the editorship of Thomas Pringle and James Cleghorn. The journal was unsuccessful and Blackwood fired Pringle and Cleghorn and relaunched the journal as Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine under his own editorship. The journal eventually adopted the shorter name and from the relaunch often referred to itself as Maga. The title page bore the image of George Buchanan, a 16th-century Scottish historian, religious and political thinker. (en)

- Il Blackwood's Magazine fu un periodico e britannico stampato a Edimburgo, Scozia, tra il 1817 e il 1980. Fu fondato dall'editore che originariamente chiamò Edinburgh Monthly Magazine. Il primo numero apparve nell'aprile 1817 sotto la responsabilità editoriale di e James Cleghorn. Il periodico non riuscì a raccogliere successo per cui Blackwood decise di licenziare Pringle e Cleghorn, assumendone lui stesso la direzione e rilanciando il magazine con il titolo di Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine. In seguito il periodico adottò il nome più breve e dal rilancio spesso si riferiva a se stesso come Maga. Il frontespizio portava l'immagine di George Buchanan, uno storico scozzese del XVI secolo. A revista não teve êxito e Blackwood despediu Pringle e Cleghorn, relançando-a com o título Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine e sob sua própria direção. Posteriormente foi adotado o nome definitivo, mais curto, sendo que desde o seu relançamento a revista se autodesignava por Maga. (pt)
